This project involved the replacement of the existing fluorescent lighting in the Maurice Keyworth building with LED and where required the installation of automatic controls.

The brief from the Client was to provide a cost effective, more sustainable lighting system which would assist in reducing the energy consumption and subsequently help diminish the buildings carbon footprint.

The works were undertaken in teaching areas, lecture theatres, offices, corridors and all communal spaces throughout the three floor building, which remained fully occupied for the duration of the contract period.

Health and safety was a major concern to not only our own employees, where working at height constituted most of the working day, but also to the university students and staff where the risk of slips and trips was an obvious hazard whilst works were on going in the circulation and corridor areas.

Out of hours working was a requirement and works had to be scheduled and certain areas prioritised to minimise disruption and risk to the building occupants.
